We would like to advise you of an upcoming site switch being performed by Inmarsat in the EMEA region.

Services Affected: BGAN/FB/SB/SB‑S 1.0/SB‑S 2.0/ IRIS
Start of Mainte­nance period: 18/09/2024, 2100 UTC
End of Mainte­nance period: 18/09/2024, 2359 UTC
Single or Multiple Outage(s): Single, up to 1 minute.
Outage Impact The Enhanced Site Switch (ESS) will keep the service inter­ruption for each user terminal to below 1 minute within the mainte­nance window. Although the expected inter­ruption per terminal is single, a limited number of terminals could require a longer period of time to re-acquire the network. In some circum­stances terminals that fail to rejoin this region may switch to another if available.
Actions needed by user: Restart the terminal if it doesn’t acquire after 15 minutes.

  • BGAN = Broadband Global Area Network. Inmarsat service for BGAN devices

  • EMEA = Satellite responsible for the region of European Middle East Africa
  • FB or FBB = FleetBroadBand. Inmarsat service for FBB devices
  • GSPS = Global Satellite Phone Service. Inmarsat voice service for IsatPhone
  • IRIS = Remote monitoring and control system
  • SB or SBB = SwiftBroadBand. Inmarsat service for SBB devices

  • UTC = Universal Time Coordinated
