The Thuraya XT-Pro satellite phone has a high-quality, high-contrast display, is splash-proof, shock-proof and also protected against dust. An emergency button allows you to store a phone number and/or text message. The emergency option starts even when the phone is switched off.
Thuraya only works in Europe, Asia, Africa (excluding the south), Australia. For North- and South-America and the south of Africa you need an Iridium or Inmarsat satellite phone.

**) Data transmission: On the one hand, Thuraya has a much better data rate than Iridium satellite phones. On the other hand, this is very low for today’s demands even under optimal conditions. Sending/receiving emails works, but you should avoid large file attachments. Surfing is possible — depending on the site, YouTube definitely not. Under optimal conditions, you need over 2 minutes for 1 MB of data.
